Paint Party Friday: Art Journaling

"Hide Me"
Strathmore Visual Journal

Happy PPF!

I hope this finds you happy and well.

I had a go at art journaling this week and wanted to share my progress with you here. Not sure if I'm really done with these pages as I often wonder how much of my art journals are complete without much, um, journaling, but nevertheless, this is what I've come up with:

Vintage Bingo card serves as a hidden flap

Glittered girl underneath

And this page features a fabulous picture of my Grandma (printed on a transparency) back in the day:

"The house the Grandma built"

Thanks for looking! I look forward to seeing all of your pretty pieces at the Party . . . .

  2. Oh, and lots of color, too! A welcome sight on this cold evening! Love Strathmore journals! I have one, a work in progress, about my favorite books. I include a book review for each one - once an English teacher, always an English teacher - and have artwork to go with them. Your post makes me want to start another one. The creative possibilities are endless!

  13. Visual journaling (that's the way I look at many of my art journals)! I get a strong memory or feeling when I look at some of my pages so I consider it jouranling even if there aren't many words on it...love the flap on yours and the way you use the photo of your grandmother! Happy PPF!

  23. love these journal pages, they have such depth and great colour to them! I always try to make art journals and end up writing too much instead :D I think more art than words is preferable at least visually

  24. Oh I just love your journal pages Kristin. Just awesome and full of great color. How I wish I could get into the art journaling but I do a page here, a page there and it's for sure not a daily thing. Excellent job!

  25. Ooh, I love your pages, wonderful color and layering and composition - and what a fun use of the bingo card. I too am bad about actually journaling in my journals - but I've decided I don't care, that art journals should be one place where there are absolutely no rules.

I love seeing all the gorgeous vintage pictures and keep thinking I KNOW I have some of my own family that I should use. Thank you for the inspiration to find them!! My pages don't always have a lot "journaling" either. ;)
