Week Five: Watermelon Ice!

"R"
8 x 8 Canvas Flag

I can hardly believe that we're on to week six of The Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations! Where did the time go?! I guess it really does fly when you're having fun. Hmmm, well, our last prompt is to create a piece of artwork - anything at all - based upon the Flavor of the week, Watermelon Ice.

I found myself wanting to add another hue to the mix - so that the red had something to pop against - and the natural choice was the color of a watermelon rind. I wonder how many of us will add green to our pieces this week? It will be a fun and interesting hop . . . . Please do join us if you'd like to take on the challenge. It's never too late to play along!

I'll be back next week at this time for one more Summer of Color post where I'll share some of the WIP shots I took along the way in addition to the completed banner as a whole. Oh, and in case you're wondering, I'll be making a special announcement then too. So, um, yeah, see you then . . . .

Ice Cream Kisses,
Kristin xo

I didn't add green!

I love heR! Such beautiful eyes.... can't wait to see her with the other lovelies.... and all that pom pom trim in one place.... when they are all together - I do LOVE pom pom trim :)

Thank you Kristin for such a wonderful event... I needed your Summer of Colour - it's made up for a distinct lack of 'summer' here and kept me smiling:)

Wow, she really does pop against that background colour - stunning! Beautiful eyes and I love how you've matched them in with the background colour. Lovely.
Thanks so much for hosting this challenge - I've really enjoyed it!

I just love this so much and I would recommend for the banner to be much longer:)
I have loved every minute of this and I would love it to go on forever because we have still no summer insight here in the UK. At least I am getting a glimps of it doing this Challenge!!
Thank you so much!

This banner is going to be fantastic when I see it all in one place. And yes, I added a touch of green, too. It was part of the seed packet embellishment, so I couldn't get around it.

I love it Kristin. You are so right, the green really makes it pop. And I'm so peed off I missed another summer of color. Things just don't seem to work out for me in the summers. You're gonna prove me wrong next summer, right?! (my not so subtle question if you're doing another challenge next year lol)

Kristin, your watermelon girl is STUNNING! That green is perfect as her background. She is so beautiful.

Thank you so much for another wonderful Summer of Color, which has been a real ray of sunshine for me in rain-soaked Britain! Your SUMMER banner will, I know, look fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing all your girls together next week and to read your 'announcement.......' how exciting :o)
