The Summer of Color: Week Five . . .

"We become intoxicated with color, with words that speak of color, and with the sun that makes colors brighter"
- Andre Derain

Welcome to Week Five of The Summer of Color . . . .

Once again I come to you with excitement and gratitude for your part in making this colorful journey together as wonderful as it is. I love-ity, love love (we'll pretend that's a word ;) all of the connections being made, the friendships being built and of course, seeing and being inspired by all of your gorgeous artwork. It makes me a proud SOC Mama for sure . . . .

Speaking of proud, our Flickr pool is nearing the 1,000 photo mark and our Facebook page continues to be the place to see and be seen. If you haven't done so already, please feel free to add your work to either area. I promise you'll love the camaraderie there. And, if you're just now finding us, it's certainly not too late to join in! We'd be honored to have you.

Now On With the Show:
For this, our 5th week together, we'll be working with the two-color combination that 16% of us choose. I must say, this was a close race, with the winner just edging out the others. I'm thrilled to say that we're going bold this week as the newest prompt is . . .

Candy Apple Red & Yellow

To see examples of the color Candy Apple Red, click here
To see examples of the color Yellow, click here
To see examples of the combination of the two, click here

Ready, Set, Go!
Feel free to create anything your little heart desires, as long as it's based upon the colors of the week. You have until this Sunday, July 14th (10:00 am, Pacific Daylight Time) to link to the widget below and qualify for the random Candy Apple Red & Yellow drawing. Only one link per person, please

And What About the Goods?
Pretty fabulous right? One randomly drawn person will win this selection of both vintage and new materials:

{One 9 x 12 pad of Strathmore Tracing sheets, 1 Fabriano red A4 Saddle Stitch art journal, 1 package of Felt Fusion yellow trim, 2 fabulous pieces of handmade decorative paper, 2 rolls of yellow washi tape, 1 butterfly stamp set, 2 Liquitex bottles of acrylic paints, 2 Sharpie pens, 1 vintage postcard; stamped and dated 1929 and, naturally, several new and vintage beads including red and clear Swarovski crystals}

I love this one! Remember, you have until this Sunday morning (10:00 am, PST) to link your work and be considered for the drawing.

Who Was Last Week's Lucky Winner?
I happen to know that this lovely lady works in these colors often. I hope she'll enjoy the goods as much as I'll enjoy sending them. Without further adieu, the winner of the Charcoal Grey & Pink drawing is . . . .

Jan from Jan's Arty Junk

Congratulations Jan! Please send me your address and I will get your prize right out.

And Now, On to our Last Poll:
It's hard to believe I know, but this is our last poll of the Summer (boo). For Week Six's color selections, I combined the top 12 favorites yet to be used. If you had a favorite that didn't quite make the cut, now's the chance to have your voice heard. You have until this Friday to get your vote on.

Hello Kristin, I'm so sad it's week 5 already, time is really flying by. This weeks colors are not one I would pick, going to give it a try though. These colors actually remind me of back to school and I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT YET, HA!

Congrats Jan, I'm so excited you won!!! Have fun playing with your new goodies and I have enjoyed seeing what you make each week.

WOW WOW WOW, the pink/gray colors this week were amazing. I honestly think this was my favorite week from everybody's projects. The colors aren't typical summertime but everybody stepped up to these colors and DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB WITH THEM!! I tried to get around to everyone, will keep doing the best I can each week.
Some of you know that each week I'm making cards in these colors. Well, so far in my blog hopping I haven't seen anyone else making cards, if you are one I haven't gotten to meet yet and make cards please leave me a comment so I could visit and see what you created. Thanks so much!!

Kristin, I will try to load my cards into the flicker? account this week. So happy to hear it's filling up with lots of great art!

WOW, how can so many of you be done and linked up already. This is so awesome and look who is at #1again with her favorite color combo finally getting chosen, YIPPEEE!! So happy for you and can't wait to see what you did.

Have a great week everyone!

Kristin, I fell in love with these colors this week!! So happy they worked for me and my cards came out so dang cute and sweet. I'm really growing as a card maker now, thankful for your push and inspiration this summer. I have loved it and making new friends thru SOC too, they are all awesome.
I just linked up, finally had to pack it up and start cleaning house and saying hello to my family, kinda neglated them during my red/yellow zone, lol.
Have a good week and can't wait to see what the colors will be next. Sad to see it end. HUGS!

This challenge has really made me think of the color combinations and to step out of my comfort zone and come up with some original drawings. Thank you for organizing this! It's a lot of fun to see what others come up with as well and I've made some new blogger buddies from the challenge. I would love to keep it going and going. It's inspiring.
