So What Do We Call This?

"A Single Star"
8 x 10 Altered Cardboard

Texture created with a doll comb and wet Gesso
(Bird's nest from Lisa's Altered Art and vintage girl / head from The Graphic's Fairy.)

Scrapbooking? Mixed Media? I dunno. What I do know is that I miss printing (and actually using) pictures of Kendra since I stopped scrapping, and I've been looking for a way to incorporate more of her (even if it's just her body in this case ;) into my work.

My friend's recently published piece in Somerset Memories in which she used a photo as as the main element in her art, inspired me to try the same. . . here is what I came up with . . .

So: what do we call this?

You know, I have been thinking lots lately about how I need to get back to using my pictures. They are such a part of us, and they are my reality. I used to spend the most of my time altering with my pics, but now, rarely. It has been on my mind a lot. Since I finished that long board, I have decided to focus on more scrapping, my way. I don't want to give up on albums, because they are what my family cherishes most. ...just my thoughts.

I would call it beautiful too! You know I dig through old pic of family to make art. Why can't I turn pics of my kids into sepia tones and use those? Great idea and good inspiration to try harder. I feel a challenge coming on !

I love it, it's a very eye-catching piece!
